![]() Winter has arrived in all it’s beauty…cold, quiet, and snowy! The ground is frozen and perennials, strawberries, asparagus, and garlic are all mulched under mounds of straw. This year, we are starting hydroponically grown lettuce…that wonderful freshness of summer that we already miss! Our goal is to perfect this process through the winter and continue growing lettuce hydroponically through the summer and fall…for a year-round crop! ![]() This is also the time of year when we process dried herbs and seeds harvested from many of our plants – ready to set the stage for the next growing season. This year, we are also processing the dye flowers and leaves that we harvested in the summer – Dyer’s Chamomile, Indigo, Dyer’s Coreopsis…learning the process of taking those beautiful plants and using them to naturally dye fabric. There is always so much opportunity to explore and learn on the Farm! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Seen above are seeds for Nigella (Love in a Mist) and Snapdragons. Still waiting to be processed are poppy, gomphrena, zinnia, asters, and cosmos. Each of these seeds holds the promise of a beautiful plant with amazingly gorgeous flowers! ![]() ![]() We’re also dreaming of the beautiful tulips that were planted in December and that will make a happy appearance right around Mother’s Day! ![]() |
These sweet pups are now two years old! They still love to play in the snow…and everywhere else, too! |
