There are weeks on the farm where everything seems to arrive all at once, and this has been one of them!
The heat, humidity, and long sunny days of June have settled in across Vermont, encouraging everything to grow at a remarkable pace. The gardens are lush, the fields are vibrant, and each morning seems to bring something new into bloom. The peonies, which only days ago were tightly wrapped buds, have suddenly burst open into spectacular blossoms. Their large petals and intoxicating fragrance fill the air with a scent that reminds us of old-fashioned roses. It’s a fleeting season, but one of the most beautiful of the year.

The arrival of peony season also means bouquets are now available to order. We grow many varieties, each with its own unique color, form, and personality, and every bouquet captures a little of the magic happening in the gardens right now.
Meanwhile, another major milestone was reached this week as every tomato plant found its way into the ground. Tomato planting is always one of those satisfying moments that feels like a promise of summer yet to come. We also filmed a short video sharing some of our favorite tomato-planting tips to help ensure strong roots, healthy plants, and abundant harvests.
We’re especially excited about several heirloom and specialty varieties we’re growing this year from Seed Savers Exchange, a nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting, regenerating, and sharing heirloom seeds.

Among the tomato seeds that we’re growing are Siberian, known for producing early fruit even in cooler climates; Wisconsin, a dependable and productive heirloom; Blondkopfchen, a delightful German cherry tomato whose name means “little blonde girl”, and Jaune Flammée, a beautiful French variety prized for its glowing orange fruit and rich flavor. We can’t wait to watch these varieties develop and eventually share their harvest with you.

Summer Solstice is right around the corner...the longest day of the year! The plants are so ready for it! We farmers are trying hard to stay up with them!
